This hotel, located at the head of the old town Main Street in Jackson, is beautifully furnished, with period furniture and historic photos of the town. Location is literally about the most ideal spot for those wishing to wander in the many shops and restaurants lining Main Street. Our stay was over New Year's weekend, however, so most of the shops and restaurants on Main Street were closed. Our room was spotless and a blend of historic furnishings with modern appliances. An elevator is available. The king bed was really comfortable with a soft duvet and down pillows. Breakfast was very basic on the holiday weekend, with microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and cereals, plus juices, yogurt, milk, etc. Plastic plates and utensils. Not in operation was an industrial size espresso machine, sigh. However, coffee in thermos was good and plentiful, and the attending lady kept everything clean and stocked. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience at the National Hotel and we look forward to staying here again.

Jackson, California, is an old gold-mining town. The hotel is in the older part of Jackson. We loved being on the sleepy main street, knowing that the primary highways out of town were only a block away. So Access, check! We loved the old, restored feel of the building. History, Check! We expected a couple of things in the room (for example - an iron and ironing board.) Reception found them for me and brought them to my room with, 'Anything else you need, just let us know." So, Service, check! We enjoyed the number of choices in the breakfast room, although the only way to heat a breakfast sandwich was the microwave. Cereal, and coffee; check!

I loved everything! It was a beautiful historic building but every accommodation was modern, clean, and worked well. There was copious parking and we had a lovely dinner down the street because it was the off season, though I understand that the on-site restaurant will be open in the summer. The building had stairs and an elevator. And breakfast was also excellent - there were hot and cold options. Lastly, the staff were kind and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again if the opportunity arose.

we were told there was a continental breakfast included, which to us means coffee and stale toast or rolls, but this was way beyond a continental breakfast. It had everything from cheese omelettes with sausage and bacon, oatmeal, large muffins, great coffee, and much much more. The staff was constantly keeping everything stocked. The breakfast area was in a nice large room with booths and large & small tables. Also, the entire hotel had been recently remodeled so everything was new & clean.

Lovely, old style hotel but very nicely renovated with all modern amenities. Excellent location and accessibility. I liked for example the AC system - model, silent, ceiling mounted instead of noisy, wall mounted. Bathroom was very clean and well equipped with low profile bath tube. Room furniture was composed accordingly to the 19th century style. Bed mattress was a good quality and allowed excellent sleep experience.
